Keep Your Girl Happy
You've made the commitment, you've unloaded the U-Haul, and you've made friends with her cat. How do you keep her happy? It shouldn't be a mystery. You two are a contented couple, happy enough to spend weekends together and snuggle up at night. As satisfied as you two are, how do you avoid the boredom that comes from being in it for the long haul?
Let her know you care. So often before we commit to a long-term relationship we give cards, flowers, cute Post-It notes around the apartment, and the like. As the relationship progresses, the novelty wears off and we settle down. Your girl lives for the thrill of surprises, so indulge her.
Liven up the bedroom...or the activities in it. Be sure your sex does not become routine. Worse yet, be sure you don't let your love life dry up. Keep the bedroom at a comfortable temperature with plenty of warm lights. Fluff those pillows and put on crisp sheets. Cue up some soulful music. If you love her, then show her with passion. Make love and don't forget to be playful sometimes.
Share quality time together. As trite as it sounds, most couples do not spend enough quality time together. Set aside some uninterrupted time to spend with your partner. Do something together -- just the two of you. The ultimate quality time together would involve a romantic weekend in a bed and breakfast on the beach, but not everyone can get away or has the budget. It doesn't have to be something elaborate. A night of DVD's and popcorn will do. Reading the Sunday paper together works. Just spend some time together and really enjoy your lover's company.
There are more ways to keep your girl happy; these are just a few of the staples. Use your imagination and you'd be surprised at what you can come up with. From hot and steamy love letters to fun dinner projects, you two can still live it up even after years of going out.
