On the 4th of July, my friend and I went to a ballpark to see fireworks. Her older sister and her friends came, too. All of the people that I went with had gone to my church for years, but I had never really talked to them much. I met all of them, and they were all great people. There was this one guy that came with his girlfriend. We talked for little bit, but his girlfriend showed up, so he hung out with her. The fireworks were great. While this guy, his girlfriend, and I walked to our car, he put his arm through mine. We walked like this for about fifteen minutes while we talked. Everyone is so close at our church that no one would think anything of it. So, I thought it was fine and so did he. The next day, everyone went to the lake a couple of counties away. He was there and so were the rest of the people that were at the park the night before. He kind of ignored me, but I didn't really think anything of it because we had just met, and we were having too much fun to actually talk. The summer passed, and it was soon time for the Halloween harvest festival at our church. We ran into each other and he gave my friend a hug. She looked at him and said, "Aren't you going to give Leslie a hug, too?" Then he looked at me and gave me a big hug. When he did, I felt this kind of attraction. When night came, everyone went over my friend's house. He was there, and we talked longer than we did the last time we had seen each other. He told me that he and his girlfriend had broken up. When it was time for him to leave, he gave me a hug and told me that we should hang out. After that, every once in a while we would see each other at church or with our friends. Then he started calling me after I gave him my phone number. We would talk for at least and hour or two. The night before my birthday, we were both over at my friend's house. We watched "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and were all over each other. All of the lights were off, and we were fiddling with each other's hair. Then it started to get to were we were holding hands. I started to think, "Wow, I need to ask him what is going on!'' I waited until everyone was upstairs so that it would be between just us. Finally, it came where everyone went upstairs to put their pajamas on, so it was the perfect chance. I sat by him and I was like, "Okay, what's going on?'' At first he acted clueless like he didn't know what I was talking about. Then after awhile of talking about "us'' he told me, "'Leslie, I really do like you, and you're so mature for your age. You're beautiful and you have a great personality, but I think we should wait until we are older so that it can be more serious.'' Of course, I was a little upset, but after a while I felt the exact same way. Then he started text messaging me. He said that it wasn't fair that I was so young and all this other stuff. I just wanted to forget about him, and I wished that he would find another girl. But that's never really happened. Since then, we have always had the tension between us every time he walks in the room. I hope I find a new person so that I can forget about him.
