She Sees Strange Text
Q: I think my boyfriend is cheating on me. I really love him, and we just recently decided to become exclusive. I think I saw a text from someone with a picture of a woman’s breasts. I want to ask him what his past experiences were before we decided to become exclusive and if he has stopped contact with any former partners. Is this a potentially dangerous conversation to a new relationship? -Tara, 27

Dr. Anna: Communication is never a bad thing with any relationship—no matter how new or old it is. Letting these questions simmer without saying anything might build up resentment, jealousy, or anxiety. Better to ask sooner rather than later. Don’t accuse, ask. Give him a chance to explain what you saw, but pay attention. Trust is earned over time.
