All 50 States Ranked: Student Test Scores

There is one thing all U.S. schools have in common: testing. Lots of testing.

Standardized testing is the most widely used tool for evaluating public schools in general, as well as assessing individual student performance at all grade levels.

Using data from the National Assessment of Educational Progress--known as "The Nation's Report Card," StartClass ranked all 50 states based on test scores of reading and math assessments for grades four and eight. Each state's ranking is based on the average percent of students who scored proficient or above on math and reading tests for the two grades.
