U.S. House panel: any violent crackdown by China on Hong Kong protesters would be 'mistake'

The panel has called on Beijing "to cease encroaching on Hong Kong's autonomy," Democratic chairman Eliot Engel and top Republican Michael McCaul said in a statement. (Reporting by Makini Brice)
