Four-star S Cross signs with Maryland
Safety Nick Cross signed his national letter of intent Tuesday to play at Maryland, spurning Florida State.
Cross, ranked as the nation's No. 55 player and the No. 4 safety on the 247Sports composite, had been committed to the Seminoles since last September. He appeared to be backing off that commitment however, declining to sign last week on National Signing Day. He also was considering Penn State.
He represents another big addition to the team for new coach Mike Locksley and becomes the Terrapins' top signee in this class. He is a four-star prospect from DeMatha Catholic in Hyattsville, Md.
The Washington Post named him First Team All-Met following the 2018 season, when he had 94 tackles and four interceptions.
Cross also is a big loss for Florida State and coach Willie Taggart. The Seminoles already were beaten out by Maryland on another prospect they hoped would sign with them in four-star quarterback Lance LeGendre from New Orleans.
