Swis pilots Mayeul van den Broek and Benoit Gaudiot wait to sail the Swiss "SP80" futuristic boat as teammates prepare the run on December 4, 2024, off the coast of Port-la-Nouvelle ahead of their attempt to break the world sailing speed record next year in south of France. Developed with the support of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), this hybrid boat-aeroplane, the Swiss "SP80", aims to reach 80 knots (148 km/h) using only the power of the wind, due to profiled hulls, foil and a kite instead of a mast.
