Local Drain Experts at Xtreme Drainworks Warn Super El Niño Could Expose Storm Drain Problems

San Diego, Oct. 21, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Xtreme Drainworks urges residents to anticipate pipe backups from the ongoing Super El Niño storm. Owner, Brian Salinas, wants San Diegans to take the proper precautions necessary to prevent damage from overflowing storm drains.

El Niño conditions can put added pressure on residential drainage systems, increasing the risk of flooding and causing extensive damage. From outdoor drains to underground sewer lines, excess rainwater can reveal issues such as existing blockages and deteriorating pipes leaving homeowners with nonfunctioning drains and costly repairs.

According to the Climate Prediction Center under the National Weather Service, El Niño will likely continue to strengthen into next year.

Families throughout the San Diego area need to plan ahead, according to Salinas. Salinas advises homeowners to thoroughly inspect their drains before the storm hits.

“Don’t wait until it’s too late and a small fix turns into a big problem,” said Salinas.
“Too many times I’ve seen families scrambling to make emergency repairs once the flood arrives so it’s best to schedule a drain inspection as soon as possible.”

Brian Salinas at Xtreme Drainworks has been taking care of San Diego families for over 25 years. As a certified drain and sewer specialist, Salinas provides peace of mind to his customers by ensuring that his goal is to fix the root of the problem and to avoid unnecessary replacements.

“I’m here to help, not make things more complicated,” said Salinas. “You can’t stop mother nature, but you can escape without tearing your house apart.”

It’s helpful to clear properties of excess debris to ensure drainways are free of any obstacles that could cause a build up, said Salinas. Leaves and rocks can accumulate and prevent heavy rainwater from draining properly.

From extreme heat waves to pouring rain, locals need to deal with the drastic environmental changes  that come with living in San Diego. That’s why Xtreme Drainworks wants to make storm preparation easier for homeowners, ensuring rainwater has a clear path to flow when El Niño comes knocking.

Salinas and his small team are committed to preserving and repairing San Diego homes before doing any major renovations. Xtreme Drainworks give their customers real answers when larger companies claim the blockage cannot be cleared and replacing everything is the only option.

Using a sewer drain camera, Salinas and his technicians can see the cause of the stoppage such as heavy grease build up or root instructions and proceed from there. Xtreme Drainworks’ customers can feel comfortable knowing their homes and their wallets are protected.
