KAILUA KONA, HAWAII - OCTOBER 26: Jeff and his son Johnny Agar compete in the bike portion moments before being pulled of the course for missing the cutoff time during the VinFast IRONMAN World Championship on October 26, 2024 in Kailua Kona, Hawaii. Since 2009, Jeff and his son Johnny Agar have been pushing the limits of endurance sports including grueling Ironman triathlons. After five unsuccessful Ironman attempts, Team Agar overcame the ultimate test of mind, body and spirt to conquer 140.6 miles of swimming, cycling, and running - all under a 17-hour time limit. Their athletic accomplishments have been especially noteworthy considering that Johnny lives with cerebral palsy, a muscle disorder which necessitates assistance with his daily activities. When racing, Johnny receives full support by his sixty-one-year old father to pull, haul and push him on course. With their never-give-up attitude, the pair has continually sought redemption from one particular failed attempt: the 2016 Ironman World Championship Triathlon in Kona. Nearly a decade later, equipped with newfound wisdom, strength and extensive training, Team Agar returned to Hawaii ready again to tackle the most challenging triathlon in the world.
