French Open 2024: Here’s how to watch on TV, betting odds and more you should know

PARIS (AP) — Catch up on the French Open with a guide that tells you everything you need to know about what happened at the clay-court Grand Slam tennis tournament, what the upcoming schedule is, how to watch, what the betting odds are and more:

Who Is Playing on Wednesday?

The last three singles quarterfinals are scheduled on Court Philippe Chatrier, with 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina facing No. 12 Jasmine Paolini up first at about 2:15 p.m. local time (1215 GMT, 8:15 a.m. EDT). That will be followed by two-time Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka against 17-year-old Mirra Andreeva. In the last men's quarterfinal, No. 4 Alexander Zverev meets No. 11 Alex de Minaur at night, starting at about 8:15 p.m. local time (1815 GMT, 2:15 p.m. EDT).

What Happened on Tuesday?

There is only one men's quarterfinal on Wednesday because defending champion Novak Djokovic withdrew on Tuesday with a torn meniscus in his right knee after having an MRI exam. Djokovic said following his five-set victory over Francisco Cerundolo in the fourth round Monday that his knee felt bad enough that staying in the tournament was no sure thing. The 24-time Grand Slam champion was set to face No. 7 seed Casper Ruud, who got a free pass into the semifinals. Ruud lost to Djokovic in last year’s final in Paris, and to Rafael Nadal the year before. Jannik Sinner beat Grigor Dimitrov 6-2, 6-4, 7-6 (3) to get to the semifinals, where he will play two-time major champ Carlos Alcaraz, a 6-3, 7-6 (3), 6-4 winner against 2021 French Open runner-up Stefanos Tsitsipas on Tuesday night. Djokovic's withdrawal means Sinner will rise to No. 1 for the first time next week. It also means there will be a first-time French Open men's champion. In the women's quarterfinals, Coco Gauff and Iga Swiatek won to set up a showdown on Thursday.
